SUSAN EDGMON

Susan considers her style to be “realistic with a flair” using primarily watercolors and pastels as the medium. In addition, she also paints dramatic florals on canvas using acrylic and oil in a larger-than-life scale (up to 48” X 76”).  Subjects include all things in nature such as flowers, animals, landscapes and people.  She has painted over 850 paintings in the last 25 years, using a variety of mediums.

Painting has brought an acute awareness of the joy and wonderful beauty that is all around us everyday, no matter the weather or the season. You don’t need a large landscape to appreciate the beauty in the world; you can find it in an area as small as a single flower. If after viewing her art, she gets one person to take a moment to look at their surroundings a little closer than they would have otherwise, then Susan feels that she has been successful in achieving her artistic goals.

Her original paintings and prints are included in private collections in many states, as well as several foreign countries. She has won over 50 awards in local, regional & national competitive art exhibitions. The painting, “Dancing Light,” won an Honorable Mention in Floral & Still Life category in the Pastel 100 competition. Three paintings are published in the book “The Best of American Pastel Vol II”, two paintings are published in the “Best of American Watermedia Vol II”. Also, she is included in “Artists and Artisan of the Ozarks, Vol I and II,” (Whitehall Pub) and “Best of World Abstract and Still Life.”

In her spare time, Susan designed and received a patent on the exciting Plein Air and studio Edgmon Easel Box. The original line of the Easel box backpacker size has been expanded to a larger version and an oil easel box.  She has designed several other items for artists including the Edgmon Art Workstation. These items are available on line at http:www.shop.edgmonart.com. All products are made in USA.

She has been teaching art classes in all mediums since 1998. She teaches weekly classes at her studio in Gravette, AR. The family business also includes custom framing. Her son, John, his wife, Karen, daughter, Haley and son, Jacob live nearby.
